About the Center The American Language Center (ALC) Oujda operates as a member of the American Cultural Association (ACA), a private, non-profit organization. The center provides a modern instructional environment with climate-controlled classrooms, Wi-Fi, boards, and small flat-screen TVs to aid instruction. Educators are supported by pedagogical resources and a team-oriented environment of English teachers, both locals and those from abroad. Teachers/staff are Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, Moroccan Fulbright alumni, ACCESS alumni, local educators and more. In-service professional development opportunities are offered through various publishing houses and companies, in addition to in-house workshops and participation in our annual all-ALC TEFL Conference. We are in Oujda, Morocco. Oujda is a city in the northeastern corner of Morocco bordering Algeria which makes it unique in so many ways. It is the 8th largest city in Morocco, one hour from the Mediterranean coast, and near to natural places like Tafoughalt, Zegzel, Marchica Lagoon, and of course, Saidia, the Pearl of Morocco.

Duties

Professional Profile and Philosophy The American Language Center - Oujda is seeking dynamic, native English-speaking educators who are familiar with teaching in a supportive, communicative, and student-centered environment that creates an integrated classroom using mixed-method approaches including the use of Edtech. The role necessitates managing a student-centered learning environment through the implementation of structured pair and group work, kinetic classroom activities, and creative task-based projects. Our primary instructional objective is the delivery of rigorous yet engaging conversational English proficiency. Fun and effective conversational English instruction is our focus, as well as participating in center activities to make the ALC Oujda a cultural hub for the city. Extra-curricular Activities Co-organize, co-lead, and in engage in clubs/games/cultural events/community service projects that support the mission of language learning and cultural exchange, etc. to develop students and the center as a whole.

Qualifications

Education: B.A. Degree. ✔ Certification: CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL. TESOL, Via Lingua, Peace Corps’ TEFL Certification, SIT TESOL Certificate or equivalent min 120-hours, classroom-based TEFL certification that includes live observed practical teaching hours with real learners. ✔ Experience: Candidates must document a minimum of one year overseas general EFL teaching experience (full-time), including teaching adolescents, young adolescents and children (ages 5 to 14). Candidates must document a minimum of five years teaching in total including the one year overseas. Additional: The center would be especially interested in individuals who have the ability and/or willingness to implement special classes related to medical English or other English for Specific Purposes. ✔ Age Requirement for local reauirements: Below 55 years old. ✔ Regulatory Notice: Due to local work permit and contract regulations, we are currently unable to process applications from citizens of India, South Africa, Nigeria, or Kenya Salary and Benefits Compensation: Locally competitive salary commensurate with experience. ∙ Housing: Monthly housing stipend plus temporary accommodation upon arrival. Health insurance: up to 80% reimbursement for medical, dental, and prescriptions. Time Off: Paid national holidays, school breaks, and a full month of vacation in August.
