Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) is the global organization’s presence in the United States. We engage people in the U.S. to fight injustice all around the world, while we also work to protect people’s human rights here in the U.S. Amnesty International USA has more than one million members and activists in all 50 states, who are part of a larger global movement of 10 million people in 150 countries. Our members are experts on specific human rights issues, regions of the world, or advocacy issues, and they serve as volunteer leaders. Others are volunteer leaders of member groups in cities, universities, states, or regions of the country. We are a democratically governed, grassroots membership organization, which means that our members vote on key policy issues and elect our Board of Directors. Amnesty International USA’s elected Board members, staff, and members work together to lead the organization.

Job Summary

AIUSA’s Movement Building and Member Engagement Department (MBME) brings together grassroots members, activists, and leaders, and incorporates technology through distributed leadership to create lasting change. AIUSA works through grassroots development and leadership, partnership and coalition building, education and training, data analysis, and storytelling to build our movement for human rights domestically, connected to the international movement for human rights. Movement building is the key for sustainable change for the human rights movement, and AIUSA seeks leaders who can activate and collaborate with grassroots leaders who can play their part to create lasting change. Shared leadership is the process by which AIUSA volunteer leaders and staff together guide AIUSA. Our shared leadership guidelines encompass core principles, values, accountability, and communication, along with core principles that serve as the foundation to support AIUSA’s human rights work.

The Manager, Resource and Training (“Manager”) works to build, strengthen and support Amnesty International USA's Youth and Student Program (Y&SP). The Youth and Student Program provides young people with the opportunity to engage in human rights education, advocacy and organizing in their communities across the United States.

This role is a union position and covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Communication Workers of America (CWA), Local 1180.

Essential Responsibilities

Student Group Resource Development

• Create, update, and curate youth-appropriate and diverse resources for high school and college level student groups and faculty advisors., including 1-pagers, toolkits, action guides, online tools, and interactive materials
• Update and maintain online activism toolboxes to ensure they are current, engaging, and relevant
• Develop, update, and audit Y&SP resources based on collaboration and consultation with youth leaders, educators, and staff

Peer Trainer Program - Training and Support

• Support volunteer youth Peer Trainers in the creation, preparation, and run-throughs of live trainings for AIUSA student groups, including support with slide decks and other relevant materials
• Create and update Facilitation Guides for each Peer Trainer live trainings and on-demand micro sessions
• Provide specific and actionable feedback and coaching for Peer Trainers on facilitation skills, delivery, and content accuracy
• Track student group participation and other metrics to inform future training development

Collaboration and Partnerships

• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders across the organization to support the successful implementation of training and resources for AIUSA student groups and faculty advisors
• Participates in shared responsibility and collaboration with the volunteer and internal and external constituents
• Other duties as assigned

• Specialized skill in developing content tailored to youth audiences, ensuring all digital and physical resources meet accessibility standards

• Ability to design comprehensive facilitation guides for both live and on-demand formats, ensuring clear learning objectives and engagement strategies

Education and Experience

• BA/BS and at least 7 years relevant experience or MA/MS and 5 years relevant experience and/or sufficient relevant work experience
• Prior experience working with youth, including high school and college-aged required
• Proficient in creating and producing educational and/or activism content across various media—including print (toolkits, one-pagers), visual media, audio, and video—and applying these via in-person, blended, or virtual, interactive platforms
• Experience designing and implementing multi-modal training workshops tailored to diverse learning styles, including active learning (simulation, discussion) vs. passive learning (reading, viewing) techniques
• Experience managing relationships with diverse audiences of grassroots activists, partners, and members of the broader human rights eco-system
• Experience working in a grassroots, volunteer, and/or member-based organization with shared leadership principles

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer

Travel Requirements, Weeknight or Weekend Work

• Must be able to attend a youth leadership training in San Francisco, California from 6/24/26-6/28/26
• Ability to occasionally travel required, e.g., staff retreats, member trainings/convenings, annual and regional AIUSA conferences
• Some weeknight and weekend work may be required (e.g., member meetings)
