CEE Perspective is an independent, non-profit and non-governmental association representing the voice of financial sector stakeholders from Central and Eastern Europe in the EU policy arena. Established in 2019, CEE Perspective works to bring the specific realities, challenges and priorities of CEE markets into European discussions on financial regulation, banking, payments, capital markets, digital finance and sustainable finance.
Through policy analysis, events, publications and stakeholder engagement, CEE Perspective aims to strengthen the visibility of the region and support a more balanced, practical and inclusive debate on the future of Europe’s financial sector.
Description of the role
CEE Perspective is looking for a motivated and curious Junior Policy Advisor to support its policy and communications work on a freelance basis.
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of Communications and Public Affairs and will contribute to the association’s policy monitoring, research and content development activities, with a particular focus on EU financial services files and their relevance for Central and Eastern Europe.
This role is well suited for a recent Master’s graduate in economics, banking, finance, European affairs, public policy or a related field who is interested in EU decision-making, financial regulation and the banking sector.
The Junior Policy Advisor will help follow EU policy developments, identify relevant trends for CEE financial markets, contribute to policy articles and briefings, and support the preparation of CEE Perspective publications and events.
We are looking for someone who can think clearly, write well, follow complex policy discussions and turn technical developments into accessible and useful content for a professional audience.
Profile of the candidate
The ideal candidate:
- Holds a Master’s degree, or is close to completing one, in economics, banking, finance, European affairs, public policy, law, political science or a related field;
- Has a good understanding of the EU decision-making process and an interest in European financial services policy;
- Is interested in banking-related files, including financial regulation, payments, capital markets, digital finance, fintech, sustainable finance and financial inclusion;
- Has a particular interest in Central and Eastern Europe and the role of CEE markets in the wider EU financial sector;
- Has strong writing skills in English and can explain complex policy issues in a clear, structured and engaging way;
- Is able to follow EU policy developments, identify relevant information and summarise key points accurately;
- Can work independently, meet deadlines and pay attention to detail;
- Is proactive, reliable and willing to learn in a small, dynamic association environment;
- Previous internship, research or work experience in EU affairs, financial services, banking, public policy or communications is an asset.
Main responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, the Junior Policy Advisor will support CEE Perspective by:
- Monitoring EU policy and regulatory developments relevant to the financial sector, with a particular focus on banking, payments, capital markets, digital finance and sustainable finance;
- Following trends and debates affecting financial markets in Central and Eastern Europe;
- Preparing short policy updates, background notes and summaries of relevant EU initiatives;
- Supporting the drafting of articles, policy insights, event summaries and other written outputs;
- Helping identify topics for CEE Perspective publications and public discussions;
- Contributing to research for events, webinars, meetings and stakeholder engagement activities;
- Supporting the preparation of briefing materials for internal and external use;
- Helping ensure that CEE-specific perspectives are reflected in CEE Perspective’s policy and communication work.

Contract details
This is a freelance position.
The expected workload is approximately 25 hours per month.
The position can be carried out remotely, with possible occasional meetings or events in Brussels or in other CEE countries depending on availability and need.
