The African Council on Foreign Relations (ACFR) invites distinguished leaders, scholars, diplomats, and strategic thinkers to join the Advisory Board of the ACFR Europe Program, the Council’s European diplomatic and strategic engagement arm. The creation of this Advisory Board marks a significant milestone in the expansion of ACFR’s European presence and reinforces the Council’s mission to elevate African perspectives within major international decision‑making arenas.

The Advisory Board serves as a high‑level governance and strategic guidance body, supporting ACFR’s mission to strengthen Africa–Europe cooperation, advance governance innovation, and shape a more balanced and equitable global order. Members contribute their expertise, networks, and vision to help steer the Program’s priorities, partnerships, and long‑term strategic direction.

Mandate of the Advisory Board

Strategic Guidance — Provide high‑level counsel on the Program’s strategic orientation, thematic priorities, and institutional positioning within Europe.

Diplomatic Engagement — Support ACFR’s outreach to European institutions, governments, think tanks, and multilateral bodies.

Program Oversight — Advise on the design, quality, and impact of ACFR Europe’s initiatives, including conferences, fellowships, and policy dialogues.

Thought Leadership — Contribute to ACFR’s intellectual output through insights, publications, and participation in high‑level forums.

Partnership Development — Strengthen ACFR’s institutional alliances across Europe and support the cultivation of new strategic partners.

Profile of Advisory Board Members

ACFR seeks individuals who embody:

Proven leadership in diplomacy, governance, academia, business, or international affairs.

Commitment to Africa–Europe cooperation and to the construction of a balanced global order.

High ethical standards and a demonstrated record of public service or institutional excellence.

Strategic vision aligned with ACFR’s mission of elevating Africa’s agency in global governance.

Expectations & Engagement

Members of the Advisory Board are expected to:

●      Participate in four annual high‑level meetings (virtual or in‑person).

●      Provide strategic input on programmatic priorities and institutional partnerships.

●      Represent or support ACFR Europe Program initiatives in relevant forums.

●      Contribute to policy dialogues, publications, or special initiatives as appropriate.

●      Contribute to the success of the ACFR Europe International Conferences 2027 in Paris, France.
