Job Overview

This role within U.S. Government Affairs (USGA) coordinates execution of the U.S. Political Action Committee (PAC) and U.S. grassroots engagement programs. The role supports relationship-building with policymakers and helps position Citi with policymakers as a credible business partner, employer and community presence. Located in Washington, D.C. or New York, New York, the role reports to the program head in New York and is responsible for executing high-impact engagement strategies aligned with Citi’s government affairs priorities and enterprise objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate execution of Citi’s PAC and grassroots engagement programs, supporting the programs head by implementing program strategies and ensuring timely delivery of team goals and program success. Includes:
- Handle all aspects of event planning, execution, and follow-up for Citi site visits and ribbon cuttings (e.g. site tours, town halls, receptions) and Washington, D.C. fly-in days
- Coordinate with state and local policymakers and program partners, including USGA lobbyists, business grassroots ambassadors and site leaders, USGA compliance partners, and communications staff to advance program goals
- Provide operational support to the PAC leadership teams in accordance with applicable firewall, pay‑to‑play, and regulatory requirements. Includes coordinating approved fundraising initiatives, overseeing contribution execution, preparing briefing materials and reports for senior leadership review, conducting general best‑practices research, and drafting informational materials for governance and executive presentations.
- Coordinate execution of grassroots activation campaigns
- Collaborate closely with state and federal lobbyists to collect inputs supporting the drafting and execution of strategic engagement and event plans, and related event briefing materials
- Develop turnkey communications and execution implementation packages for USGA lobbyists
- Participate in PAC, grassroots, trade associations, coalitions, and external networks to support Citi’s advocacy objectives and strengthen relationships with peer institutions and policymakers
- Partner closely with USGA colleagues to advance USGA political and policy objectives
- As needed, directly engage U.S. policymakers (federal, state and local) representing areas with significant Citi business presence
- Support the program head in tracking and reporting program success metrics, including via the production of concise, executive‑ready updates (e.g., dashboards, summaries, briefing materials)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in government relations or related field, including in government, a major corporation, trade association, or other business organization
- Prefer experience coordinating PACs and grassroots political engagement programs
- Prefer experience with financial services issues, ideally with a federal or state committee of jurisdiction.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to travel within the U.S. as required

Significant knowledge of U.S. political trends and their implications for financial services policy. Demonstrated ability to translate political dynamics into effective government affairs engagement strategy.

Experience with building, coordinating and engaging colleagues and networks across geographies and functions. Can interact and communicate effectively and comfortably with a wide range of audiences including USGA executives, internal business partners, and government officials.

Self-motivated, strategic, outcomes-focused professional able to manage multiple priorities, operate effectively in ambiguity, and deliver high-quality work with limited supervision while partnering closely with senior leadership. Able to think both strategically and tactically to achieve government affairs policy advocacy outcomes.
