Rosenwald Postdoctoral Fellowship in U.S. Foreign Policy and International Security (2027-28)

Position description

The Davidson Institute for Global Security at the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College invites applications for the 2027-28 E. John Rosenwald, Jr. '52 TU'53 Fellows Program in U.S. Foreign Policy and International Security. We welcome applications from any untenured scholar in history, political science, or related fields whose research bears directly on foreign policy, international security or international history. Fellows typically include recent Ph. D recipients as well as tenure-track faculty on leave from other institutions. We intend to appoint three historians and four political scientists for the 2027-28 academic year.

Applications will be evaluated on the basis of (i) significance of the applicant's research for advancing knowledge about U.S. foreign policy and international security; (ii) ability of the applicant to benefit from interaction with and mentoring from Dartmouth faculty in Government, History, or other relevant departments or programs; and (iii) ability of the applicant to contribute to Dartmouth's community.

Fellows receive competitive stipends, research support, and benefits, comparable to those offered by other fellowship programs. Fellows are expected to be in residence from September 2027 through June 2028 in order to participate in International Relations seminars and to contribute to Dartmouth's community more broadly. Fellows who meet program expectations will have the option to extend the fellowship through the 2028-29 academic year. Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph. D, or equivalent degree, by the start of their appointment. Relevant disciplines include political science, history, or others if the applicant's research relates directly to foreign policy, international security or international history.
