The Department of History and Political Science invites applications for Part-Time Instructors for Spring 2027 or Fall 2027.

The Department hires Part-Time Instructors on a semester-by-semester basis to teach a variety of courses. This is a temporary position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching face-to-face and/or online courses, attend training and/or review sessions. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and university.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Department of History and Political Science is housed within the University's College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) enrolls more than 1,950 students and has more than 160 faculty members. CAHSS houses the Departments of Criminal Justice, English, History & Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts. The CAHSS Dean's Office has administrative oversight/responsibility for the six academic units and affiliated programs of the College, as well as for its faculty & staff.

N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution and has been the largest historically Black university in the country for the past decade. With an enrollment of 15,275 students in Fall 2026, the university offers 59 undergraduate degree programs, 36 master's programs, and 12 doctoral programs. It is America's top producer of Black graduates in Engineering and Agricultural Science bachelor's programs, as well as a top five producer in numerous additional disciplines, including Liberal Arts and Communications/Journalism. It also ranks no. 3 in master's degrees awarded to Black graduates in Engineering Technologies and Related Fields, no. 4 in master's degrees in Engineering, and the no. 11 best business school for women in the nation.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Master's degree in History, Political Science, or a related field at the time of application.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Candidates with minimum of one year teaching experience at the University or Community College level and with related industrial experience.
