Position description
The Union of the Electricity Industry - Eurelectric is the sector association which represents the common interests of the electricity industry at pan-European level, plus its affiliates and associates on several other continents. We currently have over 34 full members, representing the electricity industry in 32 European countries.
As an EU Energy & Climate Policy intern, you will support Eurelectric's horizontal policy coordination and advocacy activities, including its Era of Electric Intelligence flagship workstream on artificial intelligence (Al) in the power sector.
This includes
- Build an understanding of EU-level energy and climate policy through the lens of the electricity sector through daily coordination of horizontal policy developments;
- Monitor key developments in the EU energy and climate policy and legislative landscape and other related areas;
- Prepare materials for engagements on horizontal energy and climate policy matters, including slide decks for Electricity Advocacy Group meetings, briefings and presentations for external Eurelectric engagements, advocacy meetings, etc.;
- Collaborate with policy colleagues on horizontal policy and advocacy campaigns as they arise that advance Eurelectric's overarching policy priorities;
- Support ongoing work on Eurelectric's flagship project on Al in the power sector (power for Al and Al for power), including meeting preparations, stakeholder engagements, report development, etc.;
- Assist maintenance of Eurelectric's cross-departmental planning document for institutional developments, policy outputs, external engagements, events, communications and others.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a university programme where the outcome is/will be a degree in energy, economics, political science or international relations;
- A good understanding of EU policymaking and lobbying with some previous knowledge of EU initiatives, EU energy and climate policy and the regulatory process;
- Ability to synthesize complex topics and ideas into digestible information and analyse the impact of niche issues on overall system outcomes;
- Excellent organizational and communication (writing and oral) skills;
- Ability to learn fast, be proactive and adapt to a variety of tasks;
- Fluent in English, other EU languages a plus.
