Available Immediately:

The position is full-time and will run through the end of October 2019. It will be headquartered in New York, NY, but some travel to Assembly Preparatory meetings in Berlin and the Assembly in Lindau is anticipated.

The position involves overall membership in the staff team undertaking the planning, preparations and management of the 10th World Assembly of Religions for Peace (RfP). The RfP Assembly will take place in Lindau, Germany, from 20-23 August 2019. This Assembly will bring together over 700 senior religious leaders from over 100 countries to deepen common action among diverse religions for peace. As a member of the staff Assembly Preparatory team, the position is designed to support the range of tasks essential to the operation of the Assembly—from its planning, preparation and actual management as well as provision of support for

translation —including the myriad logistically related tasks.Importantly, in addition to the general duties noted above, the position will serve as a vital functional liaison between the Religions for Peace International Secretariat in New York and the Lindau Foundation, a key partner in the Assembly, and the recipient of a large Assembly-related grant by the German Federal Foreign Office. He or she will liaise with the division “Religion and Foreign Policy” of the Directorate General for Culture and Communication.

The Assembly assistant should ideally be familiar with the working procedures and project accounting standards of the German Federal Foreign Office which will provide the grant. These more specific and important duties will include the coordination between the Religions for Peace New York Office, the Lindau Foundation and the Federal Foreign Office; tasks related to the charging of expenses in accord with an approved budgetary process; supporting the visa process for participants from across the world; and assistance with the final reporting after the Assembly.

Core requirements:

Undergraduate degree, fluency in German and English, excellent computer skills including Word and Excel, relevant work experience and familiarity with the working procedures and project accounting standards of the German Federal Foreign Office. Compensation range depends on qualifications.
