This position is responsible for independently managing all aspects of pre-arrival refugee case management, including decision-making for case placements and case management liaison work with national Resettlement Agency staff and USCCB local affiliates.This position serves as the lead for medical case placement activities and serves as the backup for refugee transportation, protection and family reunification, when needed. This position contributes to the Bishops’ strategic plan for the Conference. Demonstrates willingness and ability to understand, respect and contribute to the USCCB mission and to fulfill job duties in accordance with its Catholic identity.
Participate in and fully manage all aspects of refugee case placement for MRS Diocesan affiliates, including monitoring changes in network capacities, reporting on internal network to inform full team of any changes and assisting dioceses to report changes in capacity through designated mechanisms, primarily the MRIS database.
liaise with appropriate lead staff to ensure that specialized caseloads are placed in the strongest resettlement location, including but not limited to unaccompanied refugee minors, severe medical cases, attached refugee minors and all other cases requiring intense pre-placement follow up.
Educational Level: Bachelor’s Degree required in human rights and social service fields.
Major Field/Specialty: Human and Social Sciences and Services; International Affairs, Anthropology, Psychology, Business/Economics
Language Requirement: (if any) Knowledge of a foreign language helpful, not required
Other Specialized Training: (i.e. word processing, personal computer, knowledge of Catholic Church, etc.)
