Position description

The Department of Political Science at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a one-year visiting position in Research Methods (open subfield) at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in the fall of 2017. The applicant will teach three undergraduate courses per semester (two course preparations per semester). The courses are two sections each semester of an introductory class in research methods (sophomore level), an upper-division quantitative advanced methods course (junior and senior level) in the Fall semester, and an upper division elective on a topic of the applicant’s choosing in the Spring semester (with a preference for candidate who can offer a course in comparative politics or international relations). We are seeking to hire a dedicated teacher and emerging scholar who will embrace the department’s mission of helping students become informed, analytically reflective, and engaged global citizens.
Loyola Marymount, a comprehensive university in the mainstream of American Catholic higher education, seeks professionally outstanding applicants who value its mission and share its commitment to academic excellence, the education of the whole person, and the building of a just society. LMU is an equal opportunity institution actively working to promote an intercultural learning community. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. (Visit for more information.)

Loyola Marymount has a strong commitment to diversity, broadly defined, and therefore encourages applicants that enhance the racial diversity of the department; who are committed to working within a diverse campus community; and who are enthusiastic about working in an institution where minority and women faculty can thrive.

Required Education:

Candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred; ABD applications who anticipate completion of the doctorate by Fall 2017 will be considered.
