The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University is looking for an individual to teach ANT 185 – Global encounters – Summer 2017 – 3 Credits. The course is a Summer Session I class, offered Monday thru Thursday, May 22 – June 29, 2017, from 12:00-1:45 PM. This class is scheduled through University College and is dependent on sufficient enrollment.
Predominant views of reality and values in the cultures of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Humanistic study of cultures and nature of cross cultured understanding.
Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date. Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute.
Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
Applicant must have earned a PhD or be a senior graduate student in Anthropology who is close to or has been advanced to candidacy with prior Syracuse University teaching experience.
