Position description

The Regional Manager for the Americas Team (Canada, US, Central/South America, Caribbean) is the substantive expert for the region, knowledgeable of the major issues of interest to clients and able to speak with confidence to their concerns.  The individual ensures intelligence products on the region meet iJET’s standards for content, writing style, and format.  As an analyst, he/she writes clear, concise, accurate and timely intelligence on issues of relevance to clients.  As a manager, the incumbent supervises the day-to-day work of the team, prioritizing and assigning tasks accordingly.  The Regional Manager is responsible for the providing input on hiring, training, and the career development of team members.  He/she assists team members with developing goals, monitors their progress, and writes their annual reviews in iJET’s performance management system.  

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain awareness of major issues in the region as the substantive expert
  • Manage the intelligence production on the region through prioritizing and assigning tasks
  • Manage the members of the regional team, including those in remote locations, through coaching and mentoring; conduct informal quarterly reviews
  • Draft team members’ annual performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching
  • Represent the team at internal meetings and client-facing events
  • Draft clear, concise, and error-free intelligence products
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g. International Relations, Political Science, Area Studies, Economics, Foreign Language); Master’s degree preferred
  • Foreign language proficiency preferred; Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Must have the ability to pass a pre-employment background check

Work Experience

  • Minimum of three years of work experience in a related field (e.g. Analysis, Security, Risk Management)
  • Experience managing a team
  • Mentoring experience
  • Work/study experience in the region preferred
