Reuters is looking for an enterprising, French-speaking journalist with a track record of producing deeply-reported, exclusive stories to join our team covering Canada from our Toronto bureau.
The successful candidate should be a self-starter who can identify hot topics, do the reporting and execute top caliber work. They must be a team player and be able to collaborate closely with specialist beat reporters and editors. The correspondent will be given the time and space to focus on deeply reported stories but will be expected to pitch in to cover real-time news when the need arises.
The candidate will break news on a wide-range of issues facing Canada, from the opioid crisis to the surge in refugees/issues affecting immigrants. S/he will be able to write with authority, providing vital context on Canadian news to make it compelling to financial clients and general news readers around the globe.
Candidate should be comfortable working on deep-dive enterprise pieces that allow Reuters to set the agenda on coverage of important Canadian issues, as well as sending headlines and covering quick daily spot news stories.
