Position description

Help uphold the standards required to run a safe and successful airline. This department includes global aviation compliance, corporate investigations and field investigations, and teams that deal with the security of our facilities, aircraft and employees worldwide. 

Job overview and responsibilities

Produce and disseminate informational geo-political assessments/analysis and security reports related to any existing or start-up location for United.  Review information from open/public sources, official sources, and professional contacts. Conducts timely, accurate, relevant, and creative assessments of international security issues.  Provide analytical support to senior leadership during crisis situations such as terrorist attacks, natural disasters, or major civil unrest.  Assessments will be assigned or self-initiated.  Work closely with government intelligence agencies to gather, examine, evaluate and disseminate information. May share in the regulatory oversight of all security measures necessary for implementing the DOD National Industrial Security Program as it relates to United’s participation in the CRAF program.  May assist as company contact for TSA’s security clearance program and attend classified intelligence briefings and handling real-time security incidents/events.  Develop, deliver and maintain web-based security solutions based on regulatory requirements and intelligence information.  Ensure coordination of project work among individual activities and all disciplines within corporate security to support our goals and objectives (i.e., Cargo Security, Crew Security, 24/7 NOC Security Desk, International Facilitation, Operations and Corporate & Technical Investigations).  May have direct reports. May prepare, present and maintain annual budget for the organization. May act as back up for the Senior Manager of the organization. Travel required.


  • Responsible for the content and dissemination of timely and accurate geo-political security assessments to include identifying high-risk areas that might require additional caution or security measures to ensure the safety of our co-workers, customers, operational integrity and assets

  • May act as coordinator for Corporate Security regarding Emergency Response Center activation and participation

  • Promote cross-function collaboration and support between Corporate Security, internal and external partners

  • Identify and provide opportunities for positive individual growth


  • May act as the liaison with the Federal Security Directors, Federal Air Marshal Service, State Department Analysts, Regional Security Officers, FAA and Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding issues of aviation security

  • Communicate with TSA Federal Security Directors, Transportation Security Operations Center (TSOC), Office of Intelligence Watch (OI), Federal Air Marshal Service and FAA’s Domestic Event Network (D.E.N.)

  • May act as liaison for FBI-DSAC and PSIC

  • May act as liaison Overseas Security Advisory Committee (OSAC) consisting of; PARC, LARC and OSAC Aviation working groups

  • Initial contact between the company and International SOS (security and international healthcare services company) for geo-political analysis and specific country threat vectors

  • Communicate with State Department, TSA and foreign governments and the internal distribution of information regarding VIP and armed foreign dignitary escorts

  • Monitor industry and global developments in order to identify areas of potential vulnerability, and benchmark with other geopolitical analysts

  • Develop and maintain regular liaison with local, national, and international law enforcement and intelligence community partners

  • Maintain and broaden professional skills and contacts through external training and attendance at conferences

  • Prepare and present at various internal and external conferences, forums and meetings

Compliance Measurement

  • Gather, analyze and disseminate timely and accurate geo-political security assessments to the appropriate stakeholders (including senior leadership)

  • Partner with internal and external departments to develop appropriate training and measurement tools

  • Assess, identify, and measure risk and consult with affected department to mitigate exposure

  • Oversee maintenance of appropriate records

  • Monitor industry, regulatory, and global developments in order to identify areas of vulnerability to mitigate risk

  • Publish reports which highlight performance, successes, failures, and exposure



  • Bachelor's degree field of study such as political science, international relations, national security studies, journalism 
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong professional ethics and ability to maintain absolute discretion, confidentiality, and trust
  • Foreign area knowledge and understanding of contemporary affairs gained through study, travel, or work abroad
  • Highly developed Internet skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office-based applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and understanding of analysis on security issues, especially, though not exclusively, related to terrorism
  • Familiarity with information resources and data-mining techniques
  • Analytic experience and formal training with an intelligence agency, law enforcement organization, the military, or the private sector
  • Strong research and critical thinking skills to identify, collect, and evaluate data; to absorb and synthesize large amounts of information; and to draw logical, interpretable, and potentially actionable conclusions
  • Solid interpersonal, teambuilding, and networking skills
  • Ability to interface with and represent United Corporate Security to all levels of management, executives, and external partners
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship 
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications 
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • MBA; field of study such as political science, international relations, national security studies, journalism preferred

  • Five + years analytic experience with an intelligence agency, law enforcement organization, the military, or the private sector

  • Seven + years of aviation security experience

  • Airline or airport experience

  • US Government security clearance (at least Secret-level)
