The EU’s international development cooperation is going through major changes. Views on development aid are diverging as the political context in Europe is changing. Issues such as addressing migration and attracting private sector investment for development are substantially impacting the EU’s development policy.
This vacancy/post offers an opportunity to be part of influencing these political trends and the future of EU development cooperation, in order to ensure that it keeps its focus on poverty eradication and sustainable development, and remains rooted in human rights values.
Oxfam International is looking for an experienced EU policy advisor to improve the aid quantity and quality of the European Union’s and its member states. The focus of the position will be on key European and EU aid and development policies and processes, in particular the Multi-Annual Financial Framework, the EU‘s Financing for Development Processes, the European Consensus for Development, as well as following EU development policies on health, education and gender.
The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge of aid and development policy and trends, particularly at a European level, with proven record in advocacy, strong analytical and strategic skills, and an ability to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Commitments to the aims and objectives of Oxfam are essential.
Fluency in English required and competence in French and/or Spanish is desirable.
