Position description

Coordinates recruitment and admissions activities for prospective international graduate and undergraduate students to assist in achieving enrollment goals for Cleveland State University. Participates in coordinating and assessing the communication cycle for assigned populations. Provides training to CSU admissions staff on international student recruitment. Interprets and informs prospective students, parents, and agents on University admissions policies and procedures and serves as the primary point of contact for international students and overseas representatives authorized to work with Cleveland State. Identifies and resolves issue related to processing of international applications. Analyzes and forecasts data, prepares standard and ad hoc reports, and monitors trends in international education. Works a flexible schedule including domestic and international travel off-campus, evenings, and weekends. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Bachelor’s degree and four years of professional experience in college or university international student recruitment, college or university international student services, or admissions counseling for international students at the high school level. Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills as evidenced by application materials. Prior experience with public speaking. PC proficiency including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. Proven experience exercising initiative, decision-making, and effective organization of time and tasks, including the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Valid driver license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy. Valid passport or the ability to obtain one. Ability to travel frequently both domestically and internationally and to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education, business, communications, international relations, or a closely related field. Experience as an international admissions counselor/recruiter at a public research institution. Experience using social media for recruitment. Experience using customer relationship management software. Experience working with diverse student populations, which may include low-income, first generation, and/or ethnic groups, high school, and non-traditional students.
