The Michael G. Foster School of Business Global Business Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Program and Office Manager. 

This position will have substantial responsibility for the direction and control of 1) On-campus partnering to deliver numerous federal grant funded programs that create opportunities for multi-disciplinary learning and engagement of targeted audiences (high school students, business language learners, international/area studies, business community). 2) Assessment and evaluation of the Global Business Center's progress toward goals, particularly the goals aligned with federal grant funding. 3) The Visiting Scholar Program, which serves approximately 15 sponsored faculty annually from top research institutions outside the U.S. These scholars need support with securing visas and integrating into a U.S. academic institution and U.S. culture. 4) Communications/marketing initiatives for the Global Business Center, including the development and circulation of newsletters and management of online presence (website/social media). 5) Global Business Center Operations, including office management, budget management, event management, advisory board support and student assistant hiring and management. This position will also support undergraduate study abroad as needed due to its rapid ongoing growth. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manage Center's budget and operations, including the federal grant budget, general office management, event management (budget/expenditure management, site selection, registration, set-up, day of event details, food/beverage/AV, evaluation,), advisory board support and student assistant management (hire, train/onboard, assign and review work, provide constructive feedback). 

Develop on-campus partnerships to deliver numerous federal grant funded programs that create opportunities for multi-disciplinary learning and engagement of targeted audiences. These programs include existing high school global education programs with the Young Executives of Color and Academy of Finance; business language programs; and programs focused around world regions and/or global business issues. Assess the effectiveness and impact of each program. Track and report data to fulfill federal grant obligations. 

Assess and evaluate the Global Business Center's progress toward goals, particularly the goals and performance measures aligned with federal grant funding. Manage annual federal grant data collection and progress reporting. Partner with external evaluators as required. Provide guidance to the Global Business Center team in implementing the annual assessment plan. 

Manage ongoing enrollment of Visiting Scholars from leading research institutions outside the U.S. Ensure they have access to necessary resources and valuable opportunities to learn about U.S. culture and create connections to support their research and/or experience as a visitor. Partner with Foster School faculty and departments to guarantee consistent support and generate ideas for additional services. Manage Visiting Scholar applications, visa process and requirements, and develop orientation programming. 

Manage communications/marketing initiatives for the Center including the development and circulation of newsletters and management of our online presence (website/social media). Grow the number of newsletter subscribers and track the impact of marketing/communications initiatives. 

Assist with the preparation of faculty-led study abroad programs, study abroad marketing and undergraduate events organized by the Global Business Center. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, international relations or related field. Two to three years program/project management in a business or non-profit organization. 
  • Ability to be an effective member of a team while managing projects and responsibilities with minimal supervision; 
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook/Work/Excel/Powerpoint; 
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills; 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; 
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with faculty, students, the public and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds; 
  • Detail-oriented, ability to take initiative and work independently; 
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Overseas work/study/travel experience; 
  • Educational institution/university work experience; 
  • Financial management experience including budgeting and basic accounting;

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 

  • Visiting Scholar inquiries and applications and office management responsibilities are ongoing with monthly deadlines.  CIBER grant and UW budgets and reports have annual deadlines. 
  • This position supports federal Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) grant mandates and will, therefore, need to be responsive to reporting requirements established by the U.S. Department of Education. 
  • This position will require occasional evening and weekend work to manage the Visiting Scholar program related events, and to support large student events such as the Global Business Case Competition.
