Position description

PCat is seeking a part-time Development Officer to support our fundraising efforts, primarily to grow unrestricted support at the $1,000-$4,999 and $5,000+ giving levels, as well as assisting PCat with other fundraising efforts. The Development Officer’s responsibilities will include preparing an annual development and communications plan, managing the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors, identifying new sources of unrestricted support, and planning and implementing special fundraising events. This position will report directly to the Executive Director and work with other team members in headquarters (based in Cambridge, MA). PCat is looking for someone that is a self-starter with excellent communication skills, as well as a highly organized person who is great at building relationships and engaging partners.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

Donor Research and Management

  • Develop an annual fundraising plan
  • Manage the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of current and prospective donors
  • Conduct research to identify new unrestricted and grant supporters with an affinity for PCat’s beneficiary group and mission
  • Organize development related meetings on behalf of PCat’s Executive Director with funders, key stakeholders, donors and Board members
  • Manage the donor management database system and reporting process
  • Work closely with PCat’s team and Board members to implement ongoing and new development strategies

Special Projects and Events

  • Manage any pre-planning, day of, and follow-up strategies for annual fundraising events
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of new special events
  • Coordinate with outside vendors including printers, caterers, designers and photographers


  • Assist in developing and implementing an annual communications plan that supports the annual fundraising plan
  • Aid with management of regular communications with PCat’s diverse mix of corporate, government, foundation and individual
  • Write and distribute a quarterly e-newsletter for PCat’s donor base and key stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Passion and commitment to PCat’s mission
  • Experience in nonprofit development
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience with technology systems, databases and social media tools
  • College graduate interested in non-profit management and development field. BA required; MA preferred.

In Haiti, we work with 45 artisan groups and over 400 small-holder farmers with important value chain linkages with the artisan groups. Prosperity Catalyst’s work in Iraq has a special emphasis on supporting and providing economic opportunities for female heads of household, IDPs, and other vulnerable women. To date, the project has provided technical training to over 700 and business training to over 400 women in Iraq. Prosperity Catalyst operates for-profit enterprise hubs in Baghdad and Port-au-Prince, which provide product design assistance, and market access. We also have an e-commerce site that sells products made by our clients in both Haiti and Iraq.  Our work to date has increased average client income by 60%. Prosperity Catalyst manages subgrantees and contractors that complement our skills sets, such as Women Empowerment Organization and Stars Orbit, to assist us in implementing our projects in Iraq.

What can you expect as a team member?

  • Salary: $30,000 for home-based, half-time work
