Position description

Utilize open-source analytics platform to generate sophisticated analyses of security and media trends in East Africa with a focus in Somalia. Draft information papers, memos, and MS PowerPoint presentations with pertinent information and well-crafted visualizations. Liaise with government clients and other project stakeholders to advance their understanding of the various Open-Source platforms and their capabilities. Work internally with data-coders, modelers, and front-end developers to ensure coordination and collaboration.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance
  • Current U.S. passport
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Experience integrating multiple data sources to produce consolidated reports and information papers
  • International relations and/or Regional Studies experience
  • Somali and other East African and/or Middle Eastern language proficiency

Desired Skills: 

  • Ability to build and maintain analytical models
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with quick turnaround
  • Strong ability to present research into concise and actionable recommendations
  • Familiarity with social media, online, and mobile research techniques
  • Graduate degree or PhD preferred
  • Prior experience with the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Special Operations community
