Reuters is looking for an experienced and talented reporter to join our team for a new role covering the Trump administration. The successful candidate will break news on the Trump presidency, its policies and dramas and help Reuters set the agenda beyond the daily headlines. She or he will tell the inside story of a sometimes chaotic administration and break news on the debates surrounding the top issues facing the White House, including the Mueller investigation, trade, foreign policy, deregulation and lobbying. Our readers want to learn who is pushing what policy positions and why, and understand their real-world impact.
We are looking for candidates who already have strong sources inside and outside the White House, or a proven ability to develop them, and a record producing exclusive and enterprising stories. The role will also require building sources in Congress, federal agencies and business groups and well beyond the Beltway to tap into networks that the administration relies on as it formulates policies ranging from trade to North Korea. To succeed in this role, the candidate will need to think creatively about sourcing and will travel as needed to build contacts. The field is crowded – the correspondent will need a strong competitive streak while being collaborative within the organization, working closely with colleagues who have sources in various areas
