For over fifty years, we’ve been campaigning for human rights wherever justice, freedom and truth are denied. And in doing so, we’ve changed thousands of lives for the better. Now we’re looking for an exceptional person to take forward our relationship with Westminster and Whitehall.
About the role
In this key role within the Advocacy and Programmes Team, you will have responsibility for establishing, developing and maintaining Amnesty International UK’s relationships with parliament and with government officials. Identifying and networking with key stakeholders, influencers and decision-makers is essential to this job, devising lobbying strategies in order to ensure that these audiences continue to view AIUK as a primary source of information on human rights issues.
You’ll need to be able to hit the ground running. You will therefore be an experienced lobbyist with substantial experience of working within the UK political system primarily on domestic issues but also international human rights issues. You will have a track history of establishing positive long-term relationships with senior politicians and civil servants, engaging with them on our critical human rights work. This will also see you making the most of your excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of Amnesty and externally too.
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, fairness, freedom and truth wherever they are denied. Already our network of over seven million people is making a difference in almost every country in the world. Whether we are applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we are all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are enjoyed by all.
