Evidence Action aims to be a world leader in scaling evidence-based and cost-effective programs to reduce the burden of poverty for hundreds of millions of people in the poorest places. Our two flagship at-scale programs, Deworm the World and Dispensers for Safe Water, reached over 280 million people last year and have been named “top” and “standout” charities respectively by GiveWell in 2018, with Deworm the World being named a top charity for the sixth year in a row.

In addition to running these scaled programs, Evidence Action also leverages its unique Beta incubator to explore what interventions with initial evidence of impact might be suitable for massive scale up to become our next flagship programs. 

Evidence Action has a presence across 10 countries, with major offices in Nairobi, Kenya; Delhi, India; and Washington, D.C.

Job purpose:

Evidence Action is seeking a proactive and highly motivated individual to support all aspects of grants management (for incoming grants) within the organization. The Sr. Associate/Manager, Grants will be responsible for managing and improving grants systems and procedures used across the organization to ensure Evidence Action’s entire portfolio of grants (~35) is managed efficiently and in compliance with grant agreements and Evidence Action's policies. The Sr. Associate/Manager, Grants will also directly manage the administrative aspects of a portfolio of grants that will grow with time, requiring a fast-learner, the ability to prioritize projects with competing deadlines, and superb communication skills.  

Duties and responsibilities:

This position is located in Washington, D.C. Reporting to the Associate Director, Grants and Compliance, the Sr. Associate/Manager, Grants will work closely with program and finance teams to ensure the effective and compliant management of all grants by:

  • Maintaining and updating the Salesforce database and using project management tools (e.g. Asana, slack) to ensure the effective management of grants and contracts;
  • Creating reports from Salesforce for ad hoc requests and regular distribution to program, grants, and finance teams;
  • Facilitating on-time and accurate donor reporting by proactively engaging program and finance teams through project management tools and email;
  • Ensuring timely development and distribution of invoices for reimbursements;
  • Monitoring incoming and outgoing payments related to grants to track receivables and create revenue projections;
  • Working closely with global and regional finance and program teams to monitor grant spend rates;
  • Reviewing and updating existing procedures to ensure they are efficient and effective; creating tools to ensure adoption of procedures, including continuous training of relevant staff;
  • Managing the entire lifecycle of a portfolio of grants that will grow over time;
  • Performing additional duties and projects as assigned


  • B.A. or B.S. with 5+ years’ of relevant work experience; grants management or international development experience a plus;
  • Ability to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced, complex work environment;
  • Self-motivated team player who identifies gaps and works with diverse teams to problem solve;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both spoken and written);
  • Positive attitude and a sense of humor;
  • Exceptional word processing skills (Microsoft word and/or Google Docs) required;
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of Excel, Salesforce, Asana, Box, and Google Suite preferred;
  • An unwavering code of ethics
