Position description

The Century Foundation (TCF), a progressive public policy think tank, is seeking a creative and detail-oriented events associate to lead TCF’s events and public programming.

Reporting to the director of production, the events associate will manage the annual events calendar, support policy teams to leverage events to maximize policy impact, partner with the development team to incorporate cultivation into all events, and be our go-to event planner and day-of deliverer, including for our 100th anniversary celebration in October 2019.

You’ll get to work on events across issue areas from education, to health care, to labor, to foreign affairs, and get to partner with organizations from universities to advocacy groups, and everything in-between. You’ll also support our new pop-up think tank—Next100—with their major events.

Events Coordination (Approximately 80% of role)

  • Coordinate with internal and external contacts to organize and produce TCF events, including conferences, policy debates, lecture series, salon dinners, and stakeholder convenings
  • Develop and run budgets
  • Liaise with third-party vendors (venue, catering, A/V, etc.)
  • Draft, design, and distribute event invitations, reminders, and follow-ups
  • Utilize event management systems such as Eventbrite and Ustream
  • Design event materials such as programs, handouts, and Powerpoints
  • Run day-of logistics
  • Track and analyze event data to develop new and innovative event ideas

General Communications Support (Approximately 20% of role)

  • Provide support to the communications team on social media, press outreach, and digital campaigns as needed
  • Help maintain the communications team’s editorial and production calendars
  • Provide support to the production and communications team as needed


  • A minimum of two years experience in event management
  • Demonstrated ability to run an event from conception, through day-of production management, to thank yous and financial reconciliation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic HTML skills required, with additional WordPress, web development, and coding knowledge a plus
  • Familiarity with project management tools, such as Asana a plus
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with video and audio editing tools a plus
  • A passion for TCF’s work and mission
