The New York Times is seeking an ambitious, passionate and motivated analyst to join the team that protects our data, communications, journalists and sources.
Who are we?
Information Security helps prevent The Times from becoming news.
Our team is responsible for everything from analyzing malware and tracking threat actors to penetration testing and educating staff on modern threats. As an analyst on the Defense team, you’ll have the opportunity to be exposed to all this while working with a talented group whose focus is eliminating threats to our environment.

We’re looking for an InfoSec Analyst with experience in protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of assets and data. You should have experience working with tools similar to ones we use (SIEM, EDR, IDS, maybe even SOAR). We want someone who has a passion for both information security and The Times’ mission, a strong desire to learn and willingness to share your knowledge with others. Finally, we’d prefer that you have experience with technical or policy writing but this is not required.
What you’ll do
Identify, analyze and remediate threats in our environment
Identify gaps in existing security architecture and recommend improvements
Implement tools and processes to improve our ability to detect and respond to threats
Define and create security policies, incident response plans and security playbooks

Participate in learning reviews following security incidents and deliver technical reports
3+ years of relevant security experience
Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision making skills
Fundamental understanding of computer and networking concepts
Experience with scripting languages, regular expressions and APIs
Experience with web, cloud and virtual environments, including AWS and GCP
Proficient in technical writing and able to communicate effectively to all levels of staff
You may even have
