This specialist ensures that a proper level of site and field security is maintained across all operating units, buildings, personnel, and other assets of the BU.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Security Management: Assist the BU Security Supervisor in managing and administering BU security programs and strategies, adhering to ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT values. Utilize the Company Security Management Systems (SMS) as a framework to implement Global Security policies
- Security Procedures and Guidelines: Aid in the development and maintenance of security plans, as well as local security procedures and guidelines, in accordance with the BU Security Management Plan (SMP)
- Security Structure and Strategy: Report to the BU Security Supervisor and, as directed, lead site security management and the oversight of security contractors. Develop security goals and strategies that align with the BU security function
- Threat and Risk Assessment: Coordinate with the BU Security Supervisor to issue local security threat advisories and assist with Security Risk Assessments (SRA) by utilizing Company standards and procedures
- Security Programs: Assist the BU Security Supervisor in developing, implementing, and documenting security programs, procedures, plans, and guidance for other areas as necessary
- Security Response: Coordinate with the BU Security Supervisor on security response efforts and may serve on the BU Incident Management Team (IMT). Provide security input into plans related to incident investigations, facility security, crisis management, business continuity, and Workplace Violence Threat Assessment. Assist with events requiring additional security support, such as Executive Protection, Board of Director meetings, and significant security incidents affecting the Company
- Security Incident Reporting: Utilize BU and Global Security standards and procedures to report all security-related issues and incidents affecting the Company. Review all submitted security reports and develop action plans for further follow-up as required
- Security Systems and Tools: Assists BU sites with the implementation of physical and technical security systems and tools (CCTV, video management, badges, motion sensing, security barriers, equipment, and other technical devices) when assessing potential mitigation strategies for addressing security threats and risks. Coordinates with the BU Security Supervisor to ensure elevated coordination with Global Security, ensuring technical equipment is sourced through vetted vendors, properly calibrated, and integrated with enterprise systems
- Investigations: Conducts or assists other Company personnel with investigations. These investigations may include accidents, alleged or suspected improprieties, violations of the Company’s Code of Ethics, criminal acts directed against the Company, or other incidents
- Security Contracts: Functions as a point of contact for security contracts and assists with the administration and development of the security scope of work for BU security contracts with third-party security vendors
- Records Administration: In line with Company Document Records Management (DRM) policies, utilizes Global Security systems such as D3 for maintaining security records management, including establishing and maintaining user IDs and access privileges
- Security Training and Awareness: Assists the BU Security Supervisor with the implementation of programs to ensure all personnel have the necessary security awareness, training, and competency to perform assigned roles and responsibilities in a safe manner. This may include developing and delivering awareness materials and presentations on security-related topics at local sites
- External Engagement: Maintains local liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement organizations, private sector security organizations, and peers from security departments within other oil and gas companies to identify security threat issues
- Internal Engagement: Assists the BU Security Supervisor in coordinating stakeholder engagement with various company functions. Participates in weekly security meetings as needed, provides input for weekly reports, and maintains metrics for tracking site security activities and incidents
- Compliance: Ensures compliance with state and federal security regulatory requirements, as well as industry and voluntary compliance programs as needed. Assists with local security audit and assurance plans for BU and self-audit review
- Performance Improvement: Aims to continuously improve the BU security function by maintaining key performance indicators, documenting lessons learned, and updating security guidelines and plans
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- 10 or more years of experience in security and/or law enforcement experience
- Intermediate level of proficiency in MS O365 applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel to North Dakota on a monthly basis (1 week each month)
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel domestically 40% of the time on a yearly basis
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to respond to emergency or crisis situations on a 24-hour basis
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in criminal justice, international relations, political science, history, regional studies, economics, intelligence/security studies, journalism, related field, or foreign equivalent
- 1 or more years of experience working in a commercial environment
- 1 or more years of experience participating in Company Incident Management Teams
- Intermediate level of knowledge of: Federal and state law enforcement and government safety and security agencies, processes for mitigating security risks and threats, state and federal security regulatory requirements, and Criminal laws within the respective jurisdiction
- Understanding of security management system frameworks
- Capability to produce high-quality written reports and safety briefs
- Ability to manage and lead a team of contractor security personnel
- Ability to align security measures with business objectives
- Actively communicates and ensures safe work practices to protect people and the environment
- Ability to obtain a secret level clearance from the US Government
- Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
- Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on dedications by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right
