Position description
This role is built for a driven investment professional eager to accelerate their trajectory. As an Associate Investment Manager, you’ll gain increasing responsibility across the full investment cycle, building the judgment and skillset to step confidently into an autonomous Investment Manager role. You will support, and at times lead, debt investments for high-impact FSPs and SGBs in Latin America, with occasional collaboration in the global portfolio. You will report directly to the Senior Investment Manager and be part of a global investment team of eleven professionals.
Ideal candidates are motivated, analytical, and execution-oriented with a clear interest in impact investing in Latin America. You balance impact objectives with rigorous credit analysis and risk management, work independently in a dynamic environment, and collaborate effectively across teams. A high standard of ownership, attention to detail, and pride in quality is essential.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Transaction Origination & Execution
- Drive regional deal sourcing: Support MCE’s Latin America pipeline by cultivating new high-potential opportunities and serving as the point person for pipeline management.
- Screen and structure opportunities: Lead initial evaluations of prospective partners and prepare concise screening materials for Loan and Investment Committees.
- Lead rigorous analysis: Build and assess financial models; conduct ad hoc financial and market analyses that inform investment decisions.
- Prepare due diligence: Prepare for and participate in on-site due diligence engagements with FSPs and SGBs in Latin America.
- Underwrite and present investment opportunities: Analyze investment opportunities and draft investment memoranda and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Expected travel time in and outside of Colombia 10-20%.
Portfolio Monitoring & Insights
- Monitor performance: Review portfolio results and support Investment Managers in analysis and reporting, prepare and lead quarterly monitoring calls with clients, and conduct annual analyses of audited financial statements.
- Macro & risk surveillance: Track regional macroeconomic, country, and currency risks and assess implications for the portfolio.
Qualifications
Top candidates will possess a strong combination of the following:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree; Masters preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years in credit or financial analysis, ideally involving debt or equity transactions with FSPs and/or SGBs in Latin America.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Technical skills: Strong grasp of financial accounting and financial statement analysis; advanced Excel for financial analysis and business modeling.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to present complex information clearly and professionally.
