The Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP) is seeking aResearch Associateto help lead applied research at the intersection of public opinion, civil society impact, and peacebuilding policy, generating evidence that directly informs international decision-makers and strengthens Israeli and Palestinian civil society. This position will play a central role in ALLMEP’s flagshipAI Pulseprogram—AI-assisted large-scale public opinion and dialogue research among Israeli, Palestinian, and international audiences—while also contributing to projects focused on monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) and the impact of ALLMEP’s member organizations.

The Research Associate will work closely with the Director of Impact & Policy Research to conduct literature review, design, implement, and analyze surveys and polls, conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, translate insights into accessible products for diverse audiences, and support day-to-day research operations. The Research Associate is expected to independently manage substantial components of research projects while working under the strategic guidance of the Director of Impact & Policy Research. The role requires strong methodological training, excellent writing skills, and the ability to move fluidly between high-level analytical work and practical production tasks such as data management, website updates, and report design.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

AI PULSE RESEARCH (PRIMARY FOCUS, 60%)

      • Support the design and implementation of AI-facilitated dialogues and polls with Israeli, Palestinian, and international publics
      • Contribute to the development of research questions, instruments, and analysis plans
      • Conduct high-level quantitative and qualitative analysis of AI Pulse data, including coding open-ended responses, thematic analysis, and cross-group comparisons
      • Translate complex findings into short reports, one-pagers, slide decks, and briefs for advocacy, donor, and general audiences
      • Coordinate with external partners and panel providers on sampling, fieldwork, and data quality

IMPACT RESEARCH (20%)

      • Support research on the impact of ALLMEP member organizations and the broader peacebuilding field
      • Assist in developing indicators, conceptual frameworks, and data collection tools
      • Conduct literature reviews and background research related to civil society peacebuilding and evaluation

CONTENT & KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT (10%)

      • Draft and edit accessible research outputs for multiple audiences (policy briefs, articles, presentations, website content)
      • Support the production of reports and visuals using tools such as Canva and PowerPoint
      • Assist with updating the ALLMEP research webpages
      • Help organize and manage internal knowledge repositories and datasets

DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT(10%)

      • Participate in regular team planning and coordination
      • Interface with colleagues across ALLMEP’s global team to help ensure that research findings are integrated into both regional programming and global advocacy
      • Support preparation of presentations for donors, policymakers, and partners
      • Stay current with emerging research tools and AI technologies that can improve analysis and workflow
      • Other duties as assigned in a growing department

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

      • Master’s degreein political science, international relations, public policy, conflict resolution, Middle Eastern studies, economics, sociology, or a related field
      • 3–5 years of relevant applied research experience(e.g., public opinion research, survey research, program evaluation, or policy research).A PhD may substitute for up to two years of required experience.
      • Demonstrated experience designing and analyzing surveys or polls
      • Demonstrated ability to independently carry out substantial components of research projects—from instrument development and fieldwork coordination through analysis and drafting deliverables
      • Strong training in both qualitative and quantitative research methods
      • Experience with at least one survey platform (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, Remesh, or similar) and at least one data tool (Excel, NVivo, Tableau, R, or Python)
      • Excellent English writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise materials for non-academic audiences
      • Experience translating data insights into reports, briefs, or presentations
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
      • Mustbe eligible to work in the United States

HIGHLY DESIRED

      • Background in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) or impact measurement
      • Deep familiarity with Israeli-Palestinian context and civil society landscape
      • Proficiency in Arabic and/or Hebrew
      • Experience producing advocacy-oriented research outputs
      • Comfort with design tools (Canva, PowerPoint) and website content management
