Position description
The YPP is a flagship initiative of AfDB, aimed at recruiting high-potential individuals from AfDB member countries. The program combines:
- Three-year structured career development: Participants rotate across multiple departments and gain hands-on exposure to AfDB operations.
- Professional mentorship: Experienced leaders guide participants to develop strategic thinking, project management, and policy advisory skills.
- Capacity-building initiatives: Access to specialized training, workshops, and development opportunities.
- Cross-functional experience: Opportunities to engage in finance, policy, development projects, and advisory services across the Bank.
- Networking and exposure: Collaboration with international stakeholders, government officials, and development experts.
The program aims to create a pipeline of future AfDB experts capable of shaping Africa’s economic growth, social development, and sustainable initiatives.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of an AfDB member country.
- Education: A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as economics, finance, development studies, engineering, or social sciences.
- Age Limit: Typically, candidates must be under 32 years of age at the time of application.
- Experience: Demonstrated academic excellence, leadership potential, and relevant professional experience are preferred.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English or French is required; additional AfDB official languages are an advantage.
