About the Role
The International UN Volunteer will review and update UNICEF’s Human Resources policies to align with the current UNICEF Regulatory Framework.
Responsibilities
- Conduct an in-depth review of UNICEF’s Human Resources policies and procedures: Examine UNICEF’s comprehensive library, which includes 115 human resources directives, administrative instructions, policy documents, guidance documents, and other relevant documentation; develop a mapping plan in consultation with the project lead on the review of policies and procedures in accordance to agreed prioritization and identify gaps and misalignments with the current UNICEF Regulatory Framework.
- Draft revised Human Resources policies and procedures: Support in revising 115 policies that comply with the UNICEF Regulatory Framework, adapting them to the Regulatory framework templates, ensuring clarity and consistency and clear identification of the relevant persons and offices with the delegated authority to grant exceptions to specific policies.
- Engage with key stakeholders: Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, including the Deputy Executive Director of Management, the Global Shared Services Center, Regional Human Resources focal points, the Regulatory Framework team, and the Legal Office, to ensure the policy updates are coordinated and comprehensive.
- Support in identifying an exception management system for Human Resources policies and procedures: Support the project lead in identifying and rolling out a robust exception management system for HR policies and procedures in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Other related duties as required from the UNICEF DPC Policy team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management, law, international relations, business, public administration, or a related field
- Previous experience in applying and interpreting human resources policies or administrative law matters in an international organization, preferably an organization part of the UN common system, or comparable experience in a policy or regulatory design or maintenance role
- Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and high accuracy in work deliverables
- Knowledge of UN/UNICEF human resources policy frameworks is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
The Summary of UNV Entitlement (International Specialist):
- Volunteer Living Allowance-VLA (per month): approximately USD 2,689
- Accommodation supplement (per month): %20 of monthly living allowance only if locating in Istanbul
- Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 2,000 and USD 2,000 only if locating in Istanbul
- Exit allowance (per month): USD 225 (upon successful completion of the assignment)
- Medical, dental, life and disability insurance: Cigna Private Insurance
- Annual leave: 2.5 days accrued per calendar month
