IAPS is a nonpartisan think tank that produces policy research to address the implications of AI, from today’s most advanced models to potential AGI and superintelligence. Our work equips policymakers and industry leaders to protect innovation while navigating high-magnitude risks and opportunities at the intersection of AI, national security, and geopolitics. This three-month fully-funded program equips professionals from varied technical and policy backgrounds with practical policy skills for securing a positive future in a world with powerful AI. Past Fellows have gone on to roles at RAND, the Institute for Progress, Microsoft, Johns Hopkins University, and in government. Fellows will work with experts on real policy projects such as writing policy pieces, organizing ambitious convenings, and briefing officials. Additionally, all Fellows will come together with AI policy experts for a two-week D.C. residency, including workshops and networking.
We welcome a range of policy and technical backgrounds (e.g., industry, government, think tanks), and have Senior Fellow and Fellow positions for a range of seniority levels.
We have had Fellows with decades of experience, and others in the middle of their undergraduate. The common thread is a solid understanding of either their subject matter, the AI policy priorities that IAPS focuses on, or some combination of both.
Senior Fellows will receive $22,000 and Fellows will receive $15,000 as a stipend to work full-time during the 3-month program.
