Duties and Responsibilities
- Internship duration is a minimum of three months, with a possibility of extension.
- Full-time (35 hours per week) on the United Nations premises in New York, USA. Can be adjusted to part-time (20 hours per week) and/or remote based on the needs of the successful candidate.
- Located in the Department of Peace Operations (DPO), Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI), Justice and Corrections Service (JCS).
- JCS serves as a centre of expertise on justice, corrections, and related rule of law areas, supporting UN peace operations and host countries in justice and prison services, strengthening criminal justice systems, and facilitating rule of law reforms.
Internship Responsibilities
- Assist JCS with strategic communication and public outreach related to rule of law, security institutions, and justice and corrections in peacekeeping.
- Help develop and design communications and multimedia products for web and social media platforms.
- Assist in developing content for JCS stories to increase awareness and understanding of justice and corrections issues.
- Support drafting and editing JCS publications, including fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, and donor updates for internal and external purposes.
- Conceptualize and create data visualizations and interactive content using design and other software.
- Research, compile, and draft information for social media content preparation and production.
- Monitor and analyze social media and web analytics, including Talkwalker, Twitter Analytics, and Facebook Insights.
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications / Special Skills
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme (second university degree or higher), or final year of a first university degree (minimum bachelor’s or equivalent).
- Field of study must be closely related to the internship type.
- Strong knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Languages
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
