Position description

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Director of International Policy. The Director of International Policy serves as a key advisor, issue expert, advocate, and lobbyist for the NAM and its members on trade policy and international engagement, including initiatives related to tariffs and market access policy, international standards and technical barriers to trade, national security dimensions of trade policy including export controls, and other priority issues.

      • Analyze policy developments and data, synthesize information and apply judgement to formulate core policy positions that reflect the core values and priorities of the manufacturing community.
      • Execute policy and advocacy strategies designed to effectuate positive policy outcomes on behalf of NAM members.
      • Maintain an understanding of swift-changing polices and legislative, regulatory, and administrative initiatives to deliver accurate and timely information and assistance to member companies.
      • Communicate complex policy issues clearly and succinctly with a variety of internal and external audiences in both oral presentations and written work products.Participate in public-facing speaking engagements.
      • Engage stakeholders including but not limited to member companies, elected officials, and executive agencies.Manage relationships with policymakers on Capitol Hill and in the Administration.

    Qualifications

            • A minimum of 8-10 years of related Executive Branch, Association policy development or Capitol Hill experience.
            • Exceptional understanding of trade policy processes. Candidates without a trade policy background will not be considered.
            • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. Ability to draft regulatory comment letters and congressional testimony.
            • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced, quality and goal-driven environment.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no direct reports.

    Salary Range:$104,000 – $150,000 annually. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
