Position description

This job requires military service with a contract as a commissioned officer in the Air Force Reserve. The application is for a specific position within the Air Force Reserve.

Position Summary

Building global security comes down to having strong relationships with our allies around the world. Our Foreign Area Officers help to grow these relationships and are essential to meeting our mission and national security objectives. They help carry out programs on political-military affairs, security assistance, technology and information transfer, personnel exchange, and numerous others.

Primary Responsibilities

      • Conduct assessments, analysis, and processing of civil-affairs products.
      • Advise and consult with commanders on issues related to foreign languages and regional culture.
      • Build and maintain relationships and rapport with civil and military counterparts.
      • Develop and coordinate cultural/language training plans and events.
      • Participate in security cooperation planning between the military and local authorities.

Qualifications

Select full-time opportunities may be available for fully-qualified candidates seeking to affiliate from the active duty Air Force. Full-time opportunities for this role vary by location. To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

      • Knowledge of geopolitics, international relations and U.S. foreign policy
      • Advanced academic degree focusing on, but not limited to, the political, cultural, sociological, economic and geographic factors specific to your region of specialization
      • Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
      • Must be between the ages of 17 and 42
