Position description

Summary: Partners for Development (PfD), an American non-profit based in the Washington, D.C. area, seeks a Chief of Party candidate for a three to five year agricultural development program in Africa with core funding envisioned from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Projected start date of Fall 2025

Key Responsibilities: Ensure program operates according to budget and timeline and to local government laws and policies. Recruit, train, and retain key staff and assure their safety and the assets of PfD. Develop effective management systems. Build key relationships with public and private partners and stakeholders. 

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of ten years NGO field management experience including senior-level positions; 
  • Advanced degree in international development or relevant field; 
  • Experience in Africa required. 
  • Experience in agricultural development programs, especially in promotion of trade enabling environments. 
  • Strong budget management experience. 
  • Extensive experience with USG funding and regulations. 
  • Proven success in liaison and negotiation with prospective partners and donors. 
  • Outstanding skills in written and verbal English. 
  • Cultural sensitivity.
