Position description

NYU Faculty of Arts and Science is seeking a dynamic Communications and Program Administrator to join the Center for Near Eastern Studies. This individual will be responsible for Center communications and MA program administration: Manage, create, maintain Center's various inter-personal, print, on-line communication/marketing strategies to all constituents (prospective and current students, faculty, presenters). Create written and graphic materials for on-line, print, exhibit platforms. Manage and maintain recruitment, admissions and student process while matriculated; alumni relations and faculty applicants in person, phone, email, otherwise. Advise current and prospective graduate candidates on program requirements, including complex inquiries regarding courses, fellowship money, obtaining/changing advisors, internships, etc. Support Center daily activities and special projects.


Required Education:
Bachelor's degree (any field).

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Middle East Studies or comparable field.

Required Experience:
2-5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience with communications and/or marketing/publicity, student/other advising or counseling services, special events planning and/or equivalent.

Preferred Experience:
Work experience in communications, higher education environment, or transferable field desired.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills. Attention to detail; self-starter, disciplined. Software knowledge and creativity for text, graphic design, audio/video, web/social media (Adobe Creative Suite proficiency—Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator). Proficiency and agility with Web content platforms as well as social media tools such as Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Mailchimp.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Exemplary interpersonal skills, presentation skills, leadership, student advising and/or counseling experience. Skills in video editing (Premiere, Final Cut, or comparable) and/or livestream technologies.
